Last Friday (20/06/14), I attended my school’s Record of Achievement ceremony. The only was I can describe what the event was like, is that it was a graduation, without the diplomas, caps, gowns or crazy after party (to my disappointment). On the whole, it was a lovely ceremony, lots of speeches, songs and everyone looked incredibly smart/elegant.
The ceremony took place at my local football stadium, which held a significant amount more of the amount of places we were allocated, but still with all the Year 11 students and parents/guardians, the crowd held 500+ (eek!). Despite this, I still had the courage to sing a solo verse in the opening song “Seasons of Love” and to play Madam Thenardier in the closing song “One Day More”, which was very successful. Theres me on the far right (terrible photography by my mother).
The day itself was absolute chaos! We had so much to get through in so little time. In the morning, I had to pop back into school to drop off some coursework and go to a meeting for a London trip, which took longer than expected, so I ended up being very late to my prom hair trial. Even though I arrived late, the hair master piece (seen in the picture above) only took 30 minutes to complete! I was astounded. The magical fingers of Jade the hairdresser…
After the hairdressers, we went to the dress makers to pick up my prom dress and the florist to pick my corsage. (Be sure to check out my prom post coming soon!)
Fortunately, I had an hour and a half to get my outfit on and do my make up before getting the metro to the stadium of a soundcheck. For makeup, I went with a neutral/gold eye, using the Too Faced: Chocolate Bar palette; white chocolate (for inner corners and highlight) and marzipan (rest of the lid). I used Benetint for my checks and lips and finished off my lips with a Mac lipstick in Blossom Culture (Sheen Supreme).
After the ceremony, I got some lovely photos which my fellow choir members, Emily (left) and Emma (right). i must say they looked gorgeous too!
I am wearing a mint green tea style dress from Zara, which has a split in the back. Purchased this in Knightsbridge, I haven’t seen it in my other shops but I’m sure they’ll be some in the larger shops around but not in smaller one like my local Zara. My shoes are from Carvela at Kurt Geiger (GLOBE) which were quite pricey, but I’m also wearing them for my prom. My black and white flower choker is from Urban Oufitters, the silver heart pendant was give to me as a gift and my faux pearls are from Miss Selfridge (it used to have a clock on the bottom but it snapped off). my watch is from Urban Outfitters too. I also wore a small pearl bracelet and a white shawl, which you can see on these photos but the bracelet was from a pack, purchased at Miss Selfridge and my shawl (seen in photo 1) is my Mother’s.
On the whole, it was a great evening finishing off with a meal with my family.
